"Larrea Tridentata"
An evergreen shrub of the deserts, Commonly known as the Creosote bush. Slowly grows to 6' tall and 8' wide. A very drought tolerant desert shrub that is now believed to be the oldest living thing, 7,500 to 11,700 years old. The Creosote bush has a long history of use as a traditional medicine by Native Americans. However, when used in its natural form it has caused several cases of acute non-viral hepatitis (rapidly developing liver damage). Recently patented processes which use extracts of the plant have removed the adverse effects and have left the valuable medicinal qualities intact.
